MassFrame Solutions is a design-build contractor that provides a hybrid structural solution – MassFrame – using prefabricated mass timber and metal framing to deliver high-quality, low cost and sustainable building structures, as well as other prefabricated building components.

MassFrame Solutions was conceived by Founder James Woodbury in collaboration with long-time metal framing leaders, Daley’s Drywall & Taping, Inc., with the mission of reducing construction costs for housing projects and the intent of delivering truly affordable housing to our communities.

MassFrame optimizes projects for manufacturing efficiency, creating a delivery process that can be used for a multitude of building configurations while simultaneously reducing construction time and associated costs.

The advantages of MassFrame are borne out of the recent IBC & CBC code updates that open the doors for Type IV buildings to provide significant increases to number of stories, building heights and allowable floor areas. Additionally, MassFrame is a non-combustible structure, which may offer significant reductions in insurance premiums during and after construction is complete.

As a design-build contractor, MassFrame Solutions can provide both design-assist and full design-build solutions for building structures, including a fully detailed manufacturing BIM model of the project.

Mass timber refers to a variety of engineered wood products, such as cross- and glue-laminated timber, that serve as strong, load-bearing structural building components.

Mass timber can capture and store carbon dioxide, which reduces the carbon footprint of the structures in which it is used.

First, it’s good to understand that heavy timber is slow burning and doesn’t heat up rapidly. Mass timber, because it is a layered product, is non-combustible. The outside layer serves to protect the inner structural layers.

Mass timber is much lighter weight than concrete or steel, which reduces seismic loads and allows MassFrame to perform better during seismic events.
